Westport Kings

If all of these sound familiar then it must be March!  Ocean salmon predictions have just evolved and it looks to be another fabulous year for Chinook fishing on the coast.  I can’t imagine another Chinook season like the last 2 years, but I am sure looking forward to it.  There were many days like this one enjoyed by Ross Bottenburg and family.  This day was spectacular!

Our Halibut and Ling Cod season is just about upon us also.  We are just about booked out for Halibut unless season is extended beyond June 2.  I hope to see a weekend for a salmon and halibut combo.

I will post the ocean salmon seasons as soon as they come out.   I would advise to start planning for La Push and Umatilla Kings from July 1 through July 25 and then we will be at Westport from there on out.  I am fairly certain this year we will get through the season without a Chinook closure so make your plans now.
Our salmon projections also look spectacular for Grays Harbor and Willipa Bay.  198,00 Coho for Grays Harbor and 26,000 Kings.  We may just get a King season in Grays Harbor!  If you have never seen the harbor Kings when they come out of the ocean, they are some of largest and best fighting Kings on the coast.  I rate them right there with Tillamook Kings.  Willipa Bay will have excess of 40,000 Kings and 170,000 Coho.  This will be a great year to say the least!
